Why Do Street Cleaners Operate in the Winter?
I was in Sandy at 106th area for lunch today. As I was parking, I saw a street cleaner coming up State Street.
My first thought was that it was a truck being moved for the winter. But then I saw those round brooms sweeping and working away. This was strange to me since the street had snow left over from the weekend storm that filled the gutter / edge of the curb and even went into the right lane of the road.
So was Sandy’s street cleaning budget way under forecast for 2007 and needing to burn some hours to keep the high water mark for 2008? Out for a test drive after repairs?
If you know or have ideas, I’d love some insight.
