Is Google the Best Search Engine?

Sure not all the same amount of pages were indexed, but I could get answers quickly and accurately, usually within the first 10 hits…. Instead, I learned of a drug rehab center in Cedar Hills, links to massage therapists and florists in Cedar Hills, and how to search for a home…. I see that Ask.com (the fourth place engine with 3.49 percent) paid to place a link on the page that offers “mileage” specific search results.

AC/DC Moment Today

Relocating Water in the West

People who have water today through existing springs and underground aquifers certainly are justified in their fear of loss of the water they rely on. Those who live in the city are reliant upon their governments to provide for them.I couple of items I feel strongly about: Northern Utah uses too much water on landscaping…. As the second driest state (behind Nevada), we need to be more like those in Las Vegas who have adopted a “desert” lifestyle and decor. We’re not in the Eastern US or in England anymore.Just because a high-growth location is filled with opportunity, it doesn’t mean that the growing location should get higher priority or is more justified in getting the water.Las Vegas is more than gambling and “sin city” lifestyle.

Brad at TaylorMade

I interviewed Sean Toulon, EVP of Product and Brand Creation, and Benoit Vincent, Chief Technical Officer for a story I’m doing over at Rocky Mountain Voices…. He is one of the key guys (if not the key guy) responsible for creating the single driver head and customizing for each player with the Moveable Weight Technology (MWT)…. His background in aerospace design is coming to use with the new materials and manufacturing processes to create golf clubs and balls on computers first and then prototype second.

My “town” to finally get a store

The old-timers are so daft and unbelievably conservative they don’t want any stores. No they would rather pay taxes to high heaven and drive 7 miles to get gas or a loaf of bread…. Sure there are lots of issues with Wal-Mart’s recent retail practice and the death of small town, local business owners.

Deadbeat Dads on Pizza Boxes in Cincinatti

In Cincinnati, pizza deliver boxes are arriving with pictures of deadbeat dads, not the typical free large pizza with purchase coupon.Interesting way to socialize the problem…. The other side: how would you feel if your friends saw your dad on their pizza box and razzed you on the school yard…. I think I’d support it as a way to get the fathers to beware and support their families.

Another day I wish I would have kept that WebEx stock

I was able to get some WebEx friends and family stock back at their IPO. I flipped it pretty quick and smiled all the way to the bank…. Today’s announcement from Cisco is another day I wish I still had that stock.

Robert Scoble and Rocky Mountain Voices

Great day today at the SlopeCast with Robert Scoble. Robert gave a good preso on living in a Google world. It was cool to see how he starts his day and determines where the hot news is coming from that he should look into.
Great turn out, especially considering commuting this morning was a real pain [...]
