Marketers Host Geek Show…
Maybe Niroshan Ramachandran who worked on the Human Genome project and is now leading the charge on Proteomics…. Happy to share the marketing stage w/ Bruce or Cyd any day, of course I’m the only one geeky enough to have a blog (that’s also setup on my own domain…with a self install of WordPress)….
While I’m at it, if the geeks are looking to bring other marketing experts to town, I’d also love to hear from Al Ries or Laura his daughter (my favorite book on marketing is still “Positioning”).
Being part of something bigger than money
I realized today why I don’t understand the Open Source community as well as I should. I love money. It pays for my house. It gets me food when I’m hungry and want to drive through Wendy’s. It even helps straighten my kid’s teeth. However, money doesn’t motivate this younger generation of coders in the same way it did/does me.
Do you dislike the “Mac” guy in Apple’s ads?
While I’m not fully convinced that the ads connect better for the Windows computer (John Hodgman) than the Mac (Long), calling the Mac a “smug little twit” certainly feels a little over the top…. Does catering to user needs with a start-to-finish software and hardware solution make him smug?
Meet-Up / Podcasting for PodTech and Rocky Mountain Voices
We have been out recording people — I’ve recorded Andrew Hartsfield from WiLife, Lee Gibbons from Podango, John Furrier from PodTech.net. Our goal is to foster the community with more visibility using the power of social media like Podcasting, blogging, and video blogs.
Very random thought on creativity: Teletubbies
Their home — it looks like something left behind by defense contractor and then made even worse by astro-turfing the place…. Perhaps a management offsite could pull some great ideas out of people after a 15 minute segment of Tinky Winky, Po, Dipsy and Laa-Laa.
Time for PodUtah
Hopefully the first step toward something bigger and cooler.I’m looking forward to doing some interviews of local Utah-based technology companies. I can finally make my long-time fantasy to be a NPR correspondent / National Geographic field photographer a closer reality.Stay tuned for more!
Best Sales, Marketing, Business movies
The Blog at FeaturePlan.com, a company focused on software for product and marketing management, offered a question: What are the best movies for sales, marketing, business, office culture, advertising, etc.
Here’s my list:
Favorite Hi-Tech Cubical Culture:
Office Space — why do we in hi-tech identify so well with this movie? Is it the crazy managers? [...]
