Cisco get the iPhone before Apple
And reading the news today about Cisco launching their own iPhone (apparently, they’ve owned the trademark since 1996 — smart move by someone at Cisco or one of their many acquisitions), but this one doesn’t require a carrier. The Cisco iPhone will on WiFi. Oh how I can’t wait ’til we have an option for picking devices based on an open network protocol like WiFi.

While I’m not fully convinced that the ads connect better for the Windows computer (John Hodgman) than the Mac (Long), calling the Mac a “smug little twit” certainly feels a little over the top…. Does catering to user needs with a start-to-finish software and hardware solution make him smug?

“Looking forward, 2007 is likely to be one of the most exciting new product years in Apple’s history.”Apple is basking in the sales of products that appeal to people who want technology that crosses productivity, entertainment, and creative bounds…. It was interesting to see the following report in today’s Wall Street Journal:Shipments of iPods climbed to 8.7 million, up 35% from 6.5 million a year ago. The company said it shipped 1.6 million Macintosh computers, up 30% from a year earlier, in the pivotal back-to-school season.
Q1 for the “Smart” iPhone
Jesse Tortora, research analyst at Prudential Equities, has reported that Apple will release two phones into the market. 1) a slim phone with a music playback2) a smart phone, including integrated keyboard, video and music capabilityAnalysts expect the phone to be officially announced at Apple’s MacWorld Conference in January of 2007.
Apple iPhone…if the rumor is true, it’s GSM
May retract this tomorrow, but latest rumor is Cingular is the carrier for an Apple iPhone…. However, Cingular’s lack of cutting edge data networking clearly suggests that the first-gen phone would be media centric (surprise, surprise) and less data centric.
